Bridging the Gap – Abstract Submissions

Invitation to Submit Abstract

Community Health, Mental Health, Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, Students, and partners in Public Health join hands to embrace health equity, population health, social determinants of health, and mental health.

Purpose
To provide a scholarly and supportive community for those committed to excellence and innovation in community health, healthcare, education, research, and practice.

A transformation of the existing health care system toward a system that utilizes a coordinated, multi-disciplinary, holistic approach may not only effectively bridge the existing gap between mental and physical health but also may ultimately save lives.

Symposium Objectives
Integrate Medical and Mental Health across the continuum of care:

• Speciality Crisis Response Teams
• Practitioner Challenges and PTSD
• Intensive Care & Inpatient Facilities
• Medical & Psychiatric Emergency Services
• Integrated Care Stories & Partners in Practice

1. Derive innovative approaches for bridging the gap between medical and mental health in the community.
2. Question the implications and influence of current and emerging programs and workforce.
3. Explore the effects of social and physical contexts on the population, focusing on how health equity intersects to shape health outcomes and disparities.
4. Highlight new science and evidence to support the best community health, healthcare, and practice practices.
5. Examine innovative community/academic partnerships and their impact on health, education, and workforce development.
6. Critique the implications and effects of recent social and political events on community/public/population health and healthcare.

Abstracts are invited for presentations on original research, practice, innovative teaching strategies, and other topics related to the conference theme. Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts and selected based on their relevance to the conference theme, originality, and potential to contribute to bridging the gap between medical and mental health within our healthcare facilities and in our communities.

Abstract Instructions

Submit Your Abstract
Practitioners active in all levels of care are invited to submit an abstract. Submitters will be notified of decisions by April 30th.

Complete and submit one submission per presentation. Please indicate your preference for a podium presentation (30 minutes), or Poster. Please ensure the abstract is submitted completely, indicated by a completion message and abstract submission summary email immediately following the submission.

The submitter will receive confirmation of receipt. Revisions to abstracts cannot be accepted after the deadline of April 1st. Late submissions will not be accepted. *Communications will be directed to the submitter only.

Required Components

1. Presentation title
2. Lead presenter and abstract contact name, credentials, job title or role (e.g., student), organization, address, phone number, email,
3. Additional presenters, job title or role (e.g., student), organization, address, phone number and email (up to 3 additional presenters)
4. Short biographical sketches and photo for each presenter
5. Conflict of Interest fields completed for all authors as directed by the submission form
6. Preferred session format (podium or Poster)
7. Learning outcomes (up to 5), using Paramedic Health Solutions revised Bloom’s Taxonomy
8. Abstract text should include these components (500 word maximum)
   1. Background
   2. Purpose
   3. Methods
   4. Results
   5. Conclusions
   6. Implications/relevance for bridging the gap
9. Brief description of the session or poster that will appeal to attendees and may be used for the conference program (no more than 50 words)
10. Target audience (what type of professional would be most interested in your session/poster)
11. Level of session/poster (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
12. Special accommodations needed for presenters
13. You will not be able to submit your abstract if there is any missing information in your submission
14. If accepted for a presentation, the Paramedic Network will request your PowerPoint or pre-recorded presentation a few weeks before the Symposium.
15. Virtual presentations will be considered for international submissions
